I'm a "hobby" forester, at the moment I'm clearing bracken from areas where I've planted trees.

 

I can't help you with rates, however tips I've learned are:

 

1. Pulling the bracken up can be easier than cutting. When you cut long bracken you sometimes tend to hack the same bracken into pieces.

 

2. When you are looking for the next tree stick your head down about 4 feet above ground level where the bracken is just stems.
