Brexit impact

thought it would be kind of positive for firewood guys with machinery import getting even more expensive for the part timer to undercut with and the chance of kiln log imports getting more expensive then with a weak pound exports will go up so the forest industry will be back on it's feet so contractors will have less time to dabble as well and you never know cord price might even drop if more comes to the market but then maybe I'm over optimistic.

I doubt it will be good for firewood suppliers. Firewood is a luxury item. We are net importers of goods and the current uncertainty is likely to last at least until a deal is concluded, ie several years. The uncertainty will keep the pound weak (it has been since the referendum was announced) so imported prices will remain high. This, combined with lower confidence in consumers (reduced house prices make people feel less well off) is likely to reduce spending on luxuries.

It will be interesting to see whether I am right or wrong over the next two or three years.

spending has been very low since 2014 with SNP keeping banging on about another Scottish Referendum so we have a 2 year head start on everyone else.
