Removing spark arrestor screen

Seen a few people on here mention about removing the spark arrestor from their saws to give it a little more power, just wondering how much difference it actually makes, what problems it could cause, and whether to put the screw back in when you take the screen off?

Take it out , put the screen and the screw in a bag just in case you work on a sight that requires it . On its own wont make a huge difference but it mill make some . Will run very slightly cooler .

The screen blocks about 20% of the exhaust outlet, and that's when it is clean.

 

The only disadvantage I can see with removing it is that foreign objects, insects etc may get into the muffler - but it hasn't happened yet to any of my saws, despite I always remove those screens.

 

A slight adjustment to the carb may be needed.

Depends on where you cut. In France if it's a state owned site it has to remain in place. the reason stated to stop sparks coursing fires

He's in Wales, more chance of causing a flood there I think
