Stihl woodboss 028 stolen - replacement advice

Hi all, my dad has had his chainsaw nicked by some low life bar steward so he'll need a replacement :-(

He and I both used it to fell trees up to about 2' and process them to firewood. We are by no means professionals. We like the power that the saw has but find it a little bit heavy. We don't care if the new saw is a Stihl or a Husky so what do you recommend or even offer? Got anything spud?

Thanks know advance

Its posable to go new ( Dolmar..Echo..saws can be had for that money)but think a bit more money is needed than 350 if you are thinking of Stihl -Husqvarna.

As your Dad is familiar with Stihl then just getting something in the second hand Pro range made by them in the 90s-2000s is going to give you a increase in power to weight and still feel familiar to your Dad.

Spud mentioned the Ms 260, (or earlier 026, both pro saws) good sub over from the 028 ..BUT..condition is Key !! Don't overlook a 024 av as its a pro saw as well...lite and fine for firewood with a 15-16in bar on it (shorter bars will cut bigger wood remember).

Regardless of wether you consider The Most excellent ! 346 or 357 or Stihl saws ,or any second hand pro saw it can't be over stressed...Cheep ones are not CHEEP for no reason ! there broke or need a full refurb so for 250-350 you should do fine from a good trustworthy dealer ,user or private seller.
