I keep looking at the logosol farmer's mill, but can't really justify one.

I like that it comes apart for transport and storage and even though it's the base model, can be added to/upgraded as you go.

Haven't seen one in the flesh but it looks good in videos, especially if you put the carriage off the M8 on it.

Was ideally looking for something I could build round a piece of timber, that's not too big. Do anything like that?

I tried finding something similar to what you're describing.... closest thing I could find was the RipSaw.... it's a small bandsaw unit that runs on a chainsaw head. Unfortunately they aren't easy to come by and aren't exported to the Uk.... they also have reliability issues (from what I've gathered).

It's surprising nobody has come up with an alternative yet as I imagine there must be lots of Alaskan owners that would like to plank up with a truly portable bandsaw unit.

Think of it along the lines of an 'Alaskan Bandsaw Mill', if ya like.

cheers, steve

p.s.. RipSaw website here: http://www.ripsaw.com/ripsaw.html

Yep - I have one of those, sat in the shed, with about half a day's work lined up (would equate to about two days with an Alaskan) and when I figure out why it is not working (throwing bands) and fix it, it will be great again, as it is whenever it is working. In the meantime it is sitting there waiting.....
