254 cutting out

I've got an MS260 a bit like that..it idles ok, you get full revs for a few seconds then dies. I think it might be the diaphragm.

 

Might not be this but some had a problem with the on/off wire shorting against the av housing. IIRC if you remove the airfilter cover you should be able to see it on the left hand side. Our ms260 used to cut out randomly and this was the prob.

I'll check that out, thanks..although this is a slow death rather than sudden..and if you let go quick enough, it will drop to idle without cutting out.
