I am trying to get my recently aquired 2006 M 260 started and I need help in getting the spark plug out.

In the instruction manual, it says:

'pull off the spark plug boot and take out the screw and remove the shroud'.

There is no indication of the position of the screw. Is it the screw on top of the shroud which has a threaded hole in it and is set inside a rubber socket?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for that reply.

Am I right in assuming that the shroud is the plastic cover over the spark plug, and has 2 holes in it, one for the decompression button and one for a screw surrounded by rubber?

If so, I have tried pulling on it but it seems very tight.

What holds it in position?

What is the purpose of the screw with rubber round it?

You've answered your own question! that screw holds it on!

The screw with the rubber round will undo (normal thread) the rubber is there to retain the screw in the cover. The screw is more like a nut with a screw head that fits on to a stud on top of the cylinder. You may find better access if you remove the air filter cover as well.
