I had a problem with my 361 stalling when the chainbrake was on or left to tickover and it turned out to be a whole load of really dense chain oil and sawdust stuck behind the clutch and around the clutch cover. Gave it a right old clear out with the air line and its been fine since. I've been using Oregon chain oil which gets really thick when its cold so I think that may have been part of the issue as well as it not getting cleaned enough..

Ps when you start her hot & blast the trigger full bore, does it fly or bog down?

once i get it going again it runs fine, until i take my finger off the trigger for more than 5 seconds and then it cuts out again

i've always kept the saw very clean, used an air line on it a few times too all with no luck. have always used stihl oil too which doesn't seem too gloopy in cold conditions

so would opening the tank cap and replacing help if this were the problem?

I don't know but it's worth a shot. Imo it's a fueling or ignition issue. What's it like if you adjust tickover?

have spent many an hour fiddling with the carb settings and idle screw, all to no avail. will check the various previous suggestions and so if i can cure the problem....will post the solution if something works

Please do! As my 200t is now doing the same, well similar & the only thing I can find wrong is a badly worn sprocket, stopping the chain moving freely... Still at least it ain't a husky ;-)

It sounds like a carb issue but have just had one in that sounds very rich but the tach is telling me the coil is faulty as it wont rev over 9000rpm!

You could try a cheap aftermarket carb but may just confuse the issue if you can't be 100% sure it is of good quality.

If the saw dies after a good thrash, it could be running lean or rich as bith will have similar effects.
