macrocarpa allergy

Hi guys, I have started a big carving from a huge butt of macrpcarpa and the fine sawdust seems to be giving my eyes some grief , I have an airshield pro so its only after I take it off to measure something , have a wee etc , has an6one else had this and does anybody know of anything I can do about it as my eyes are sore and gacky , never had a reaction like it before well not as bad as this ,thanks in advance

Have spent 3 weeks and 2 week spells milling nothing but macrocarpa with no effects. Obviously the dust isn't as fine as you'd get carving and sanding.

Never heard any warnings from Australia and New Zealand where it's one of the more common construction timbers.

Could it be a fungus in the airshield itself. ?

I spent a week on and off carving a macrocarpa stump back in January and I did suffer a little of what you describe during the sanding phase. I think it effects some more than others and maybe even varies depending on the tree and its growing conditions etc.
