Hi Im new on here and looking for some advise. I have got my cs30 and 31 and have booked my cs38 and 39. My training provider doesnt supply equiptment so I need to buy my own,I am unsure what harness and ropes to go for. Could anyone recommend any makes etc,I dont want to end up buying twice! Im not working with a tree surgery company at the minute only a log and fire wood place so any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

get basic kit. i started with stein vaga harness, yale xtc rop, prusik and steel core flip line.

i've completely changed my kit now but i would not have been comfortable climbing on my current set up when i started.

go try on a few harnesses at your local dealer and see whats comfortable.

If the training provider can't supply/hire the kit you need I would have been looking elsewhere, that said you've already booked it so you need the kit.

You're going to be into quite a bit of money but here's the equipment that I used, the only equipment that I owned were my Type C trousers, climbing helmet c/w ear defenders and visor, 1st aid kit, knife (for rescue) and my Harness (Petzl Avaho)

In addition I used,

Climbing Rope

Lanyard

4 x friction hitches/prussik cords (one for the climbing rope, one for the lanyard, one for the flipline and one for rescue)

1 x webbing sling (re-direct and rescue)

Spikes

Wire core flipline

approx 6 auto lock 3 way opening carabiners

2 x micro pulleys (one each for lanyard and flipline)

1 x cambium saver

1 x pruning saw

1 x top handle chainsaw

chainsaw lanyard

I think that about covers it although I also used a throwline kit (cube, throwbags, throwline)
