Hi guys

Can anyone tell me the day rate for a tree planter and how many trees they could plant in a day ? Planting bare root spruce/Douglas fir

Lots of variables. I've never done it. I think it's on piece work. Something like 1500 planted in a day. At 10p each.

But don't quote me.

tried it many years ago, i think we had to plant 800 before getting paid, and were expected to plant 1200 or more. had to wear protective gear because of the pesticides on the saplings. worst job ever.

I Planted for a few years in Scotland, Canada and Australia.

Always piece work. Scotland tends to be around 6p per tree for soft woods in mounds but would depend on the land. You have to go fast and be motivated so a day rate tends not to achieve the desired results. A good planter will consistently put in 3-4 k a day.

But has the lifespan of a battery farmed hen I reckon.
