We obviously play a big part in the fine line that is life or death for these beasts, but ultimately it will be an interaction that is a mere blink of time for what could be a dynastical bio legacy.

My boss once said to me that he was just a custodian and his job was to look after the trees and woods to pass on to the next generation in good order:001_smile:

Is he into shooting at all?

That phrase is printed in the Shooting Times every week... I think it is a famous comment made by King Henry.... and of course, totally true.

I work at Helmingham Hall near Ipswich 6000 acre estate. My in-laws live at Troston near Honington. Troston estate farms have a shoot with a full time gamekeeper.:001_smile:

I know troston very very well! Used to drink in the pub there alot and had family that stayed near the gamekeeper a few years ago.

What a small world.I dont know the Euston estate but i think it is a bit run down. Well i think all estates are as they cost so much to run and keep going.:001_smile:

Euston is a 18000 acre estate near Honington, running through to Euston and out towards Thetford on the A1088...

The estate used to be a little run down but in recent years has had a good revival - but as estates go they're not too bad IMO.

Some of the estates up here are so tight... I wouldn't know where to start explaining!!

Got your messgae David - I used to work in Suffolk before moving to Scotland, and am a Suffolk lad born and bred, but never did any estate forestry, I was more a keeper than forestry, but did do a stint at the EA FD and also for a local tree surgeon as a groundsman.

You're right, dumfries is away way down south... you would love the forestry up here. Not so many hardwoods though.
