I am hoping to move to Malta next year and will be moving the workshop and machinery to....... However I am a little concerned as to the apparent lack of good useable timber on the island, the only local wood is limited to olive and the like which is not in plentiful supply.

How can I import decent timber to Malta, container or similar? and are there any practical problems with doing so. Would dried or green be best, its very hot over there :blushing: and I think green wood would be prone to degrading very quickly.

Has anyone experience of this type of problem?

Any suggestion's welcome.

I'd have thought you'd need to be careful with importing fresh cut wood - risk of diseases and pests. Though as Malta doesn't have many trees of their own perhaps they're not so concerned!

Nice place to live.

My thought was to import a container full of suitable wood as and when is needed but as I have never had to do this I haven`t a clue as to what is involved or even if it is practical to do.
