If its showing all clear I would then just ring planing on the morning we were starting the work or the afternoon before and say you wish to confirm the map/plan information is unto date, take the persons name and ask them to log your call :001_smile:

Sounds like a plan.

Thanks :001_smile:

I say Arborists but not sure on one of the guys but he is pretty experienced on woodland management and also runs a large chainsaw mill. Need a climber as there are a lot of decaying branches over pathways that they want made safe. Price was not cheap but they come with bags of experience, work like dogs and come with a chipper.

Depending on the woodland, it might be a nice idea to have a few brash piles for habitat rather than chip it all. :001_smile:

Yep good plan Felix and one we will encourage. There is a lot of windblow to deal with so some will get chipped.

Felling licence may also be a consideration depending on volume, unless you're working within an approved woodland management plan? FC, Woodland Trust or Silvanus Trust can offer some advice if needed.

Are you anywhere near Uplyme DT7 3SH? May have a small woodland regen to do up there - might be a bit far away for me to take it.

Thanks Kevin

Yes Felling licence might be needed. Snag is a visit before the job is a big hassle as it's up near Godalming. Getting them to send picture of what is to cut down. Does the weight of large branches count towards the 5 tonne limit?

I stand to be corrected, but I think branches only count if the entire tree is felled.

There's no FL requirement for pruning / crown reduction etc.

I always check with Local Authority by phone, as restrictions can be applied without notice at any time.:001_smile:

I always print off the online map of tpos and put with job sheet, if they don't update there maps that's there problem! They shouldn't offer a mapping service if you cant run by it!!
