4x4 pick-up or soft-roader?

I swan around like an old man these days, never in a great rush to get anywhere. I still struggle to get over 30mpg out of my navara

 

Boooo that's boring! Im thinking about getting a ranger to replace my caddy van and using it for a mix of subby stuff and my own jobs, but am really worried the decrease in mpg will take the fun out of it... I then thought about a transit tipper but they also suffer from poor mpg...

The only thing I can think of would be a vw t4 pick up, capable of 40 mpg.

 

Obsessing? Maybe.. but the idea of a juicy vehicle stopping me from doing stuff outside of tree work gives me the heebie jeebies

Yep boring, but im tight. Currently up to 55,000 miles on the same tyres and brakes

ive had many pickups and most dont see over 30 mpg at all maybe the newer ones will. A few i know run ford rangers so to be lez compliant and and are ok towing

I'm a full time gardener/landscaper - run a few vehicles - I know it's not glam, but a Ford Transit Tipper is a good vehicle - either normal or crew cab - fairly economical to run and versatile - I'd have one over a small pickup any day....
