Hi STEVE do you think biomass will keep up the price of Courtwood thanks John

I think like every subsidised scheme driven by cash incentive (greed) it will sink or run aground. Look how we have gone round in circles with agriculture, the grain mountains dumped in the 80s, set aside, stewardship. On it will go.

The future is a heap of redundant biomass boilers getting scrapped! The owners will probably not lose out due to the generous funding, but what will be next?

Again we are not thinking far ahead. Firewood will keep selling until it's outlawed if it ever is.

I read an article today about Sales of timber in The uk has increased a huge amount in 2015 and the price for cordwood will significantly increase in the medium and long term... They have already gone up 50% in the last 2 years and I'm paying £60-70+vat a ton delivered at the moment for hardwood and softwood is nearly at £45+vat. If it goes up anymore it wouldn't be viable for me to buy it so what do I do? Close my doors because importing timber is worse for the environment? No I will be buying imported Firewood in.

Im looking for tips or advice on how to run this side of the business.

Any help would be great.

IBC cages are great for seasoning in, much faster turn around then a large random piles of split logs. They cut down handling as well.

Try and prep your raw material on tree surgery jobs.

As Goaty said, if on a budget the rack type saw horses are very productive for all the stuff you don't ring up on site.
