help with chain numbers

hey folks I picked up a couple of stihl chains off ebay a while ago, they were brand new and going cheap so I snapped them up. Back then I wasn't aware of pitch, gauge etc. Anyway they don't fit any of my saws and have been hanging in the shed ever since. Going to stick them on ebay but need to know more about them for the description. There are 55 drive links, each link has '3' stamped on it, any ideas what length of bar and gauge they are as they don't fit into the rollers on any of the bars I have?

3 on the drive link means the gauge is .050 (1.3mm).

The number on the cutter will tell you the pitch as explained here:

Saw Chain Identification | STIHL USA Mobile

Once you have identified it you can find the equivalent husqvarna, oregon, carlton etc... chain types here if you want to give a more detailed description when selling it.

OK, so we know from your other posts that you use .325" pitch and if your Husky is standard that is on 3/8" lo-pro. .050" gauge is also used on standard 3/8" but I would guess you are familiar with this, so I'm guessing that this chain has a smaller pitch, which turns out to be 1/4".

I can't offhand find any pro saws which run 1/4" as standard, but it is used for carving. I can only find a 56" DL fitting as standard though, for some 10" carving bars.

If there are 55 drive links, than prob a 40cm/ 16 inch 3/8 PM or PS chain, used on smaller Stihls as 021-023-025 MS210-230-250 or MS211-231-251 or MS241 or MS 200T-210T and others.

I basically agree, but there are other options out there than straight 63PS and 63PM.

Thats why I said „prob” meaning probably, but even so considering the info we have, I can t think off any other than PS3 or PM3.

Maybe you will tell what your are thinking.

Those are options, as is the older PM1.

A couple of decent pictures likely would tell....
