Thanks everyone for the input.

SIP Autoplus 181DP Dual Purpose MIG Welder - SIP04791 | SIP UK

I have that one. I've found it very good for the money. The Rtech stuff looks very good, I'm tempted by their plasma cutters.

A little out of my budget really, looking to spend about 450 including mask, gloves etc.

It will. Much like the SIP one it will run on a 13amp socket but only at 160amps. For the full 180 amps you need a 16amp supply.

Ah , I see, so, whatever i end up getting it would make sense to buy one with a min of 160amps?

Other than the machine i list in the first post, any other recommendations?

There are a few Clarke and Sealey jobbies at my local machine mart in the VAT free offer ( that they seem to have every week)

Any good?

R tech are local to me, I have a R tech Tig and also that Mig you have linked, great little machine would recommend, R techs back up is also top notch, I would not hesitate to recommend or buy their products. As for second hand I would say its a bit like a second hand chainsaw ....................generally its for sale for one reason................its knackered :)
