Distell

Not sure if I have spelt that right or not (distell)

Wondering if anyone has a picture of a distell and micro pulley set up?

I'm looking to change my set-up a bit and am struggling to work out how to tie the distell friction hitch..

Tried a VT already and couldn't really get on with it but have been recommended to try the distell.

Has anyone else got any beads of light to throw at this?

Type in "distel hitch" into google images and you should see the knot, sorry don't have a picture myself. I know a couple of guys that use it and sware by it. Use the Icicle myself.

How do you find the icicle??

What's it like for coming back in walking along a branch etc??

What i'm trying to improve on is the scenario where i'm walking along a branch back into the trunk and I have to use two hands to take up the slack in my rope with a traditional prussik set-up, and that's why I want to introduce a micro pulley into the system so I can pull the knot up with one hand..

I like the icicle, it grips well but probably not quite as free running as the distel, although I have 4 wraps on it as I'm a fairly big guy. Don't use a micro pully as I feel it's more clutter I can do without (or I'm just old fashioned).

I'm just trying to get my climbing set up as smooth as possible.... the less time messing around with a prussik and faffing with kit the better.

I had a go at a VT set up and scared the crap out of myself.... you have to keep setting the knot and making sure it's working right which I dont want to have to do every minute i'm using it... either that or I set it up completley wrong.
