Japa 300 not starting

The yard where I work from has a Japa and the only way they can start it is by jump starting.

I'm not familiar with this machine but the pull cord seems excessively difficult to pull. Anyone got any ideas on likely problems?

Anyone got user/maintenance manuals?

Thanks, Simon

What engine are you running? Petrol or Derv?

I have a Japa 300 with a derv engine, when I purchased it the battery was crap and always needed jump leads. Put an new battery on on (biggest I could fit on the tray) and always starts straight away. I leave it months and month and still starts first time. The pull start is very stiff but never used it, it also has a decompression valve on the head to help the pull start.

If its a petrol and it runs fine but bad to start I would check the battery, leads are clean, earth is good, spark plug is good. If its a petrol pull start shouldnt be too hard to pull so may need a strip down & clean.

Processor Manual is here

Also google the make of engine to get a engine manual as will give better info.

Thanks Andy, it's a diesel engine. I'll pass on the information, I take it yours starts on the ignition key then. They said it's always been a bugger to start so it may well be a dodgy battery 👍
