manufacturing let downs!

Why do companies let their reputations down by not thinking products through :confused1:

I have just bought a Uniforest BMF 14 road tow splitter and despite issues is a cracking splitter :thumbup1:

Splitter was delivered by Riko last week "who have been above average rectifying problems" machine arrived with a bolt hanging out the axle! then leaking hydraulic oil from the sight glass! then oil from a coupling! the machine is solidly built but it seems they let some numpty have a hand in designing it! table was so low riko had to raise the height, side extention is so flimsy its broke already! there is nothing to hold the bottom of the table in place so when splitting a big log slides to 1 side! you need childs hands to attach light cable to machine! why specialise in making firewood related machinery if you don't understand the customers needs :confused1: who wants a tiny table at knee height to split on? i hope they can rectify the above in the future as it would make a superb splitter. 1 lad can split 10 ibc's a day on his own which aint bad going and its built like a tank, just a shame about the little things rant over.

Nothing wrong with venting.

It seems now a days most companies dont care after money has changed hands and back up is poor. Ive come accross some really poor conpanies in this industry.

Its no good being dissapointed with a new product youve spent money on wether its 50.00 or 5000.00!

Hope you get it resolved

Don't want to seem like i am bad mouthing their product, just highlighting how their weaknesses makes all the good engineering pointless.

Looks like you have two problems.

1 Design flaws which you should have picked up if you had seen before you bought so I don't really think you have cause to rant over that.

2 Lack of or very poor PDI so if its Riko that did the PDI no wonder they are good at rectifying the problems they should have picked up pre delivery. Perhaps they will help you on the

design flaws as recompence for their poor PDI. Worth a go I would have thought anyway.

Thanks for the ‘cracking bit of kit’ comment and that we have been ‘above average’ at rectifying the faults.

Of course these faults should not have been there as the PDI was carried out by Riko. Regrettably it appears a couple of things did sneak past the person who did the PDI. And they have been 'spanked'! :sneaky2:

The lighting cable socket uses the latest twist type plug and socket that can catch people out. It is located to ensure the socket cannot be damaged. We accept this makes it a bit ‘tight & fiddly’.

Nobody has previously complained about the height of the table however, as was the case here, we are more than happy to raise the height if required. All the safety cut-outs etc are adjusted so the machine remained 100% compliant.

The table extensions are a simple hook on platfor designed for placing half a split log on whilst the other half is split. If they are left in place when splitting ‘oversize’ rings they are liable to be damaged. On request we are more than happy to make up a special ‘oversize’ table for you or any other Titanium owners.

We have not been made aware of any issue with any issue with the bottom of the table moving about. However I will happily look into this to see if anything can be done.

Hope that covers everything.
