Zigzag or lockjack???

I have tried a search but came up with nothing.

 

Trying to decide on one as I can't afford both, I have used a zigzag briefly and was impressed but have an art positioner on my lanyard and really like the build of it.

 

Anybody have some thoughts? The price is similar on both.

 

I'm steering clear of the spiderjack after hearing mixed reviews on them.

Zig zag is very user friendly. I have the Mk 2 and so far it has no cracks.

I have a zigzag 3, I love it. I will be trying lockjack when it comes to replacing it as the ZZ is quite a long unit and you have to be careful when near a branch etc that you don't bend the zigzag part of it as I believe that's what could cause most of the cracks.

The thing pushing me to a zz is you don't have to replace the clutch/cam but how lo do they last?

If it is looked after potentially a long time.

The lockjack relies on a single cam whereas a Zigzag has several pressure points (6) that grab the rope.

Depending on use the zigzag should outlast the cam on the LJ.

The downside to that is that if and when it does wear out there aren't any interchangeable parts so you would have to replace the whole unit.

Thanks for that, I figured it should take a while to wear a cam down in the LJ but from vids the zz seems a smoother ride
