Hi all

I'm after either a 24" or 28" bar and chain for my husky 61. I have a lot of oversized trees that need ringing up the 20" I have on there at mo is good but the extra length would be easier. Just looking for the best price for a chain and bar.

I've never had any trouble with the old 61 saws. My old man swore by his and he used that as a main saw for years felling back in the day with a variety of different size bars. Until I get a 372 it's only option I got at the moment

24" - 28" on a 61, that is madness, it will bog severely in a cut of that size.

Skip chain and 1.3mm gauge and you may get away with it but not something I would personally try!

The 61 would be more at home on a 16"!

What gets me me they sell these bars and state what saws they fit I got quoted for a 24" bar yesterday by a husqvarna dealer and didn't advise against it. Surely these places should be advising against it. Suprised they didn't try selling me a new saw. I have always taken advice from you guys on here and is much appreciated. I'm stuck now with what to do. I got a lot of wood to cut up on the farm but can't afford a new saw and bar at the same time log sales slow at moment.

An 18" bar will cut 30" + from both sides, When I only had my 266xp any big logs I cut the length required and then turned the log and made another cut and so on. Its a bit slower but rather that than destroying your saw. I tried a 28" bar on the 266xp but it would not have lasted long so bought a 390xp
