I have an old ex mod crane mounted on a trailer all runs from a small pump on a Honda engine when today when I was using it I lost the slew all other features continued to work although a bit slower than normal bet when left for a while it all worked fine between this I did swap the hoses around to find out if it was a spool playing up and in the process noticed the hydraulic fluid was very milky so must have a bit of water in the system could the water be causing the problem and help would be great many thanks Tom

Not likely to be a spool, if the handle feels ok then there is not much can go wrong with a spool.

Is there a valve block inline between spool and slew rams if so check that.

Maybe a relief valve playing up with worn or damaged seals, not likely the pump as it's probably a gear pump and they generally work fine till they are too worn to lift a full load.

Would be worth changing the oil though, fresh oil will give you a bit more power and you can check the old oil for metal particles.

different application but still a pump/oil etc issue i had recently.

some info i was asked for by hydraulics company,

pump rate per min

volume of oil in system

i was suffering oil overheating issues so this was important info.

can you put up your specs - i dont know much but others will
