I bought a new chain for my rancher 18 inch saw,

The current chain is a 91,

The one I bought is a vp95 will this be suitable for the Oregon bar I have on it

What is the difference in the two chains.

Not suitable.

91 is 3/8 lo pro pitch and 95 is 0.325" pitch.

I am very surprised that your Rancher is on a 91 type chain.

So what chain should be on it, it's an Oregon 95 vpx bar,

95VP or 95VPX - but if course the drive sprocket has to be .325 as well.

What sort of Rancher saw is it?

All UK spec 455 machines were on .325 pitch chain H25 64E 15" H25 72E 18", some American import machines were on 3/8 pitch, these were bought off E Bay or the like.
