Would you do that in unvented bags that are left exposed to weather?

 

Yes I recycle fertilizer bags. Just retie the bottom which allows excess water to drain away then cut the top off round by the 4 lifting hooks. Hold open with fork lift and fill to the top with excavator. Once full leave in open weather for 2 years and you have glorious soil improver used either as mulch for hilling up potatoes or trench infill instead of double digging for moisture loving plants like peas, beans, etc.

I was under the impression that the arborists with chippers ended up with tons of wood chip that they couldn't give away!

 

Can never have enough chip although the EA storage rules could do with amending.
