Here are some shots from an interestig and challenging rigging job I helped set up over the Brisbane River a few months back.

Storms had undermined a large Euc which then failed onto one of the main water supply pipes to the Capital.

We were not permitted to use the bridge to set up a crane, MainRoads Dept would not sign off on the rating nor play ball over the road closure.....we could have set up on the approach but would have needed a huge crane $$$'s

The pics seem to double up so I wont try to narrate them...I was not able (time wise or physically!) to actually work on the tyrolean bit I did get to try it out before having to fly north.

Boyd was the skilled climber doing all the work in the following shots.

Last few shots, towards the end of the job (as always) things got progressively heavier...it all went really well and completed without any problems despite the extreme nervousness of the client..as I say I was really only there at the start to help with the rigging set up.

wow, at first i was thinking thats a lot of work for a gum tree, just cut it up. then the true scale of what you were really doing becomes clear. well done everyone involved.

i was thinking the same, till the pics with the climber. fantastic job sean!

Nice to see a totally different approach to the job. How long did the job take to do start to finish? Was there a lot of head-scratching when it was decided the crane couldnt be used, or was this all part of a pre-conceived plan? Good to see some old fashioned ideas still have their place to this day.

still a tricky job with all that weight below you, especially with climbing lines involved, i have never done anything of this scale mate, but it is bad enough taking windblown trees off houses or structures, all it takes is the stem to move, did you guys have it braced lower down at all?
