The shear bars are the other edge that the blades cut against and are located just before the cradle that houses the blades and rotor. Providing you don't have morons feeding the machine with stones and they don't crack, they do last a long time - our old old machine of ten years has only had them replaced once and you can of course flip them over to the other edge. Absolute sod to get to and very expensive all the same, in keeping with most of greenmech's spare parts!

An absolute pain to get out. A tighter fit than a brazilians swim trunks.

Hoping they go back in a lot easier.

I'll take some photos while I've got the chipper disassembled, for others reference.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
