A good guide to identifying Cedars is;

Cedrus Atlantica (Atlas Cedar) has Ascending branches

Cedrus Libani (Cedar of Lebannon) has Level branches

Cedrus Deodar (Himalayan Cedar) has Descending branches.

The others (Turkish/Cypriot) cedars are glaucous have blue/green foilage.

Thanks,

Bolthole - I often remember the Cedars like that too.

But I wasn't confident about that particular tree - I thought it had quite a random branch structure. Neither the branches themselves nor the growing tips appear to be at all consistent.

It certainly had blue/ green foliage.

Cheers,

Brian
