Update; as expected caught it just in time; oil strainer with some positive sludge carbon deposits - now cleaned. Oil pan given a bit of a scrub. Flushed for 10 mins, followed by sacrificial oil run for 5 miles followed by final fill of 5W40 PAO synthetic... Sounds quite different!

Good thread TCD. I'm also interested in this Red Line oil you talk of all the time. What spec would you suggest for 6cyl turbo Perkins, 1990 vintage?

 

On slightly different track... I got injectors in Lokomo reconditioned but I'd say it's smokier than before. Always wondered if I'd got them seated right or made some other cock up causing the smoke.

HI WASP is that on a tractor then mate 6354 PERKINS TURBO thanks jon :thumbup:

Good to hear John, they have good reputation. I service my kit fairly regularly and will try TCD's Red Line recommendation next time.

 

HI WASP im told it good STUFF mate oils cheaper then metal parts on engine that what my mechanics say thanks jon :thumbup:
