Devon log cabin

Advice needed! A friend on the east side of Dartmoor has a small woodland and he wants to build a log cabin. There is loads of forestry clearance and thinning going on right next door. Spruce and larch mainly. Are these any good for a log cabin? I feel as long as its off the ground and kept dry it ought to be ok. We reckon we will need about 50 lengths of 16ft ish straight poles. Any idea what this would cost? Cheers

go for larch mate,very durable outside, cost will depend on the diameter you need, but as its right next door,i`d suggest a little visit to have a chat,probably strike you a deal,,,

That was my feelings too. Wonder if anyone on here is involved in the work around Kennick, Tottiford and Trenchford reservoirs?

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but logbuilding is what I do for a living. Is the cabin built yet? If so how did he go about it, milled or full-scribed.
