Advice on small crane

Hi

Been looking at Truck Pick-up Crane with Cable Winch Lifting Loading and Unloading Tools Goods | eBay

 

 

 

I was thinking that I could either put it onto my trailer or even the back of the 110 Landcover for delivering bulk bags. Anybody experienced using these?

I bought similar from the 2012 APF but I think mine has a slightly higher lifting capacity and would suit you better.

You will have to strengthen the base of your trailer to cater for considerable load stresses otherwise the floor will buckle.

Here's a pic of a similar to mine and note the streghtening web on the dipper arm, that's the bit to look out for.

Also you will have to remember not to leave the 'chromes' exposed as they are made in China and certainly NOT chromed!

look om the rock logsplitter site (on arbtrader )they do one for about 260 quid.i am tempted but have no idea about quality ,it certainly does seem cheap:thumbup:

Mine is a sealey and has the web on the top, it cost a bit more but was with me within 24 hours. I think the back of the upright is a better place for the winch than on the arm as is should spread some of the strain onto the upright?

Yes. I welded a couple of putlog clips onto the trailer sides and have one long scaffold pole that clips to these and then a short upright with a base-plate that stands on the ground. Perfect for a 1.0m3 bag of firewood or anything else for that matter.

how does the bed of the truck stand up to lifting bags, there's a guy round here with one and he seems to be in at the welders alot, tempted with something similar for single bag runs on a defender.

My dad had one of the sealey ones on the back end of a 16 foot flat bed trailer. trailer was strengthened underneath.

It did the job for delivering multi bag loads. could drag the bags to the back end with the winch then lifted them off ok. 1m3 Bags were a fair lift. no problem with builders bags.

It was quite handy at times where he could crane the bags right into peoples garages.

Wasn't amazing quality but for £170 it was great value.
