I've done mine twice, with different companies. Both training organisations will be a bit of a travel for you but its a start,

Rand training Near Lincoln.

Abbey Training Shrewsbury.

There must be some one nearer to you though.

Edited to add this link http://sites.stocksphere.com/citrus_training/content.asp?itemid=33&009=1 says they have a south east training centre

Hope it helps

Tells you the cost on their web site,

I did it once when I worked for a local CC, then I moved to another company who insist on all new employees resiting all their qualifications so they know they are trained to their standards.

I didn't mind I wasn't paying!

We did Signing, Lighting and Guarding, Unit 2 of Chapter 8 at West Mids Training in Brum.

165 quid a man. Done in a day. Accredited ID card and City Guilds Certificate to boot!

The whole thing is just a formality, dont expect to burn any brain cells!

I don't realy know what chapter8 is, I have the old city and guild signing, coning and guarding street works act, did the course at Burwell, don't tell me, my ticket is now out of date etc etc

Hello mate there's a place just outside Braintree, Essex that do the course if you contact-Project Skills Solutions Ltd 0845 1307411 they will put you on a course. Be prepared to be bored though its one of the dullest courses i've been on. Its a 1 day course & it will cost you around £160, you'll get a city & guilds in lighting, coning & guarding (whoopee). This will cover you for all your work on roads. hope this helps.
