Hi all, I've decided to take the plunge and purchase an electric log splitter. I've got around £400 - £500 to spend on one and just wanted to ask peoples advice on here prior to making a purchase.

Is there any that shine above the others that I should be considering?

Many thanks in advance.

Steve.

Brand new? at that price it,ll be one step up from an axe. you may have to put a 1 in front of your budget if you want anything half decent.

Yeah I did suspect that to be honest! Just basically after the best that I can buy for the money that I have available. So 2nd hand would definatly be a consideration.

It for home use to feed an 8kw burner.

If your only using it for your own wood then have you tried screwfix/machine mart/ b&q etc.

We have an alko 5 ton splitter and have used it quite extensively for nearly 3 years now without any problems. Was around £300 I think and for the money I can't fault it. Would definitely recomend for home owner use
