Firewood event

Thought this might be of interest to some of you. i have no connection with the event so dont know what it'll be like but i reckon i might go and check it out.

 

Sunday 6th Sept. Lincolnshire firewood fair and auction. Stourton Estate, Baumber, Horncastle.

The flyer i have says it is for users and producers of firewood, and people who just fancy a day out.

 

it looks like there will be demos of horse logging, carving, climbing and also machinery and burners etc on show.

I'm going to go to that.

 

I didn't go to the auction last year, but I heard some of the lots were pretty cheap..eg. builder's bag of cut and split firewood £30. I can't help thinking September's not really the time to auction firewood..stick a price on it, yes, but not auction it. Most average people don't think that far ahead, and won't be getting ready for fires until the weather turns, so there won't be a great deal of interest.

I think it's the first time it's been on. They ran some sort of auction last year, rather than a show.

 

I suspect the whole event is mainly a 'networking' exercise rather than a show.

Hello

 

I am involved with the event and we are hoping it will be a good day.

The idea is to promote local businesses who are involved with producing firewood and encouraging the public to buy local.

 

There will be working displays of various kit, horse logging and crafts as well as a beer tent and BBQ etc.

 

The auction has around 250 lots of firewood, kindling, briquettes etc.

 

The more people support this event the more we can show that Lincolnshire is a county where things are happening tree wise.

And can anyone lend me a fiver for the beer tent!

what a great idea, i would love to do something like that, get all the locals together working as a team and not against each other. good luck with the show

Stevie. Don't know if you Know but FC are running a Biomass sceminar at Hamilton on 9th Sept. I know it's not the same as this event but might be worth a look.
