Felling over 380mm (old cs32)

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am thinking about doing the above course just for the experience However i am led to believe that you need your own winch and strops. I dont fancy the idea of paying for top of the range stuff as i dont think it would get much use after the course, if any at all. I have seen some in machine mart, but would these be any good and what size winch/cable/strop would give me the best combination to get through the course. Also how many high lift wedges and again which sort.

Hope this makes sense:confused1::blushing:

Thanks

Harvey

erm.... shouldn't your training provider have every thing already??

that's the whole point... they have all the gear to train and show you how to use it.....

Well, that is the thing. I emailed them yesterday with my enquiry, and they replied saying that they expect me to have all the equipment required. But i'm sure i read somewhere that the training provider/instructor would have a winch for the pupils to use. I dont mind buying my own if i have to, just dont want to pay full wack, as i dont work in trees, i just like doing the courses, for the experience.

The trainer provide the winch when did mine had own high lift wedges. I would go with another training provider but if you want to get wedges I would get two then you can walk them in and they don't take too much of a beating so to speak

You'll be provided with winching equipment and if not your welcome to borrow mine:001_smile:

What's more important is that you get some good size trees to work on there's seems to be real shortage of good medium/large trees to train on at the moment so check that suitable trees are available. there's a lot of training undertaken on substandard trees!!
