Will the wood need treating or has it been treated?

 

Did you but the timber already split or was it something you did yourself?

 

Sry for the questions I just havent a clue about this type of work.:blushing:

 

The wood hasn't been treated but it will easily last 8 years there are alot of tannins in sweet chestnut so doesn't rot as quick.

 

We split the timber ourselves by hand with metal wedges and splitting axe.

Thanks everyone for comments so far, there was another fencer down the bottom of the field knocking in 3" tanalised posts and rails on his way past us he pulled a face of disgust. Not everones cup of tea i know but i like it, at least i won't have to go back in a few years time because it's rotten.:001_smile:

Yes it is coppiced chestnut we get it from two local woodlands, its abit overgrown but were trying to reinstate the coppicing.
