I do about 50m3 of firewood a year, all hardwood arb arisings. Done with a chainsaw and a home made splitter.

Would a Riko scd 700 be a big advantage ? Got the option to buy one.

Thanks

I do the same as yourself, thought about it - but decided to get a bigger chainsaw instead to add to the arsenal. I use a basic rack system on pallet - that can be raised and lowered on pallet forks/back of tractor. Faster, safer and more productive I think.

Big advantage to the rack in my system is the sawn logs stack together and are easier to remove in armfuls of 4 and 5 at a time, whilst raising the whole unit to constantly work at waist height. So no bending and picking up individal logs off the floor as would be the case with a saw bench.

Plus one piece of metal in some arb waste and its a serious condition to fix on one of those tct blades.

I'm the same do about 100 cube per year , one man band, used to do the chainsaw thing, bought an oxdale saw bench, should have done it years ago. I don't do arb waste so , yep see the point of rowan above could be expensive.... Worth a punt I'd say if no good always sellable.

I have the smaller scd600 and think it is well worth it. Easy to use for long periods, a lot less saw dust compared to a saw, a lot less sharpening and easy maintenance.
