I use the Maglite recharchables Jon, not cheap but have a good throw and the batteries charge in a little docking station, although if your desperate you can wang in some pound shop batteries.

 

Best torches ever.

I got head torch off amazon for £15. Battery pack sits on rear of your head and is rechargeable from mains, cig lighter or USB. Very, very bright and keeps your hands free obviously, if of interest I'll post link next time I'm logged into amazon
