Hey Everyone,

I was sent here by a friend because they said you might be interested, I have recently made my own Alaskan style mill for a project i am doing. I have also filmed the entire process (even the mistakes) for you all to see. I am not a business trying to advertise i am purely trying to entertain people. i hope you enjoy.

For the nose sprocket problem there's 2 solutions I can think of.

Shorten the rails so you clamp tight on the bar without pinching the sprocket, this is what most of us do or (and I've never tried this but think I read it on here somewhere) weld a 20p piece on the clamps so it clamps on the very centre of the sprocket, doesn't pinch the sprocket and lift the clamps just enough so they clear the chain, dont forget to weld one on the innerclamp as well so it all lines up the same.

Oh, just thought of another solution, buy an Alaskan from rob d or if you're a cheapskate like me buy one secondhand on eBay.

cheers bobh, i did read somewhere that you can pinch it directly over the rivets, but I would prefer a flatter mount to help keep the bar straight, for the last cut i used a rectangle tractor inner-tire. it melted itself to the saw but the bar didn't move an inch,

As for buying one from rob, i am a much cheeper skate than you :) I could just buy my stairs architraves and skirtings but where is the fun in that.
