Sorry TDC its the wrong colour, but heres my new toy. Mak6401 - got her a couple weeks back but so har have just had alittle play and not any serious work (theres a huge bit of oak get her name on it though!). Theres no noticable difference in power from the 6800 IMO even though itis down on power a touch... but even if i do decide i want more oomph £55 buys the 79cc pot and piston - and then i will have a huge saw for only £590 :thumbup1::lol::001_cool:

Im still abit gutted my 6800 is dead though. Thanks again Shavey for sending me prices etc for the Dolmars, was - is much appreciated. Sorry you didnt get a sale.

That's no problem buddy thanks for considering me you never know there might be a cylinder and piston appear for your 6800 ,out of my huge collection of Sachs dolmar and dolmar parts that I haven't sifted through yet :thumbup:

You will have to keep us updated on your progress with this saw there hasn't been much posted about this model hopefully somebody ??? will enlighten us with some specs and pros and cons :lol:

there seems to be more 6000i around than 6800i

Yeah... im watching a 6000 on ebay at moment. Much rather keep her 68cc - but would step down if it keeps the saw alive.

Does the 120/120si cylinders fit into the 6000/6800i saw? Looks to me like the carb etc wont fit?

Iam 80% sure it's the same cylinder and piston I will check the Sachs dolmar IPL books tonight

Yeah im pretty sure the cylinder will fit - but the 6000 and 6800 has a bolt-on inlet manifold before the carb which the 120 and 120si dont have - the long screws which hold the carb on are positioned different - going by the Clymer Service Manuals... just wondering if the different carb etc would drop into a 6800 and it all work??

I was looking for a 6800 pot for months/years. They are like hen's teeth.

From memory the 120si and the 116si are the same as the 6800i and the 6000si (same 'injection' tillotson, hence the 'i'/'si') and thus would fit. The non-'si' versions aren't the same.

I'm fairly certain that's right, although it's pretty academic given the rarity of 6800i pots!!
