Having a special moment!

I've always been on prussik and my rope round a crotch. After picking up a few injuries and seeing the light I've bought a zig zag and a pulley saver.

I don't have any other climbers to ask so I'm asking here. I've watched all the videos online and still don't fully understand the pulley saver.

The retrieval ball doesn't fit through the pulley and I don't know what the the other prussik with metal loop on is.

Probably a really stupid question but hey.

Set the save with the pulley through the loop as your anchor point. Thread the eye of your rope first through the smaller Prussic eye. This is a retrieval point. Continue your line I to and out of the larger pully and connect back to you climbing system.

 

When your finished and on the ground. Put the retrieval ball on the spliced eye and pull the lot through. The ball should go through the larger pulley and get caught on the smaller eye and pull the lot out of the tree for you.

Ah ok so the other prussik is the retrieval shakle?

But the retrieval ball doesn't fit through the pulley ?

thats the wrong ball, did the pull saver not come with 2 little red balls? mine did

The hole in the other prussik thing is larger than the pulley

You just need a smaller ball

send it back, the ball goes through the pully and catches on the thimble, they come with their own "retrevaballs" they are smaller than normal cambium saver ones. it seems like they have stuck the wrong sized thimble on and not included the balls. did it come as a complete set in a bag?

Does the pinto need the spacer in it? Maybe the ball would fit without?

 

Could just carve the ball a bit smaller instead?

It does I'm afraid mate. The forces on the cord passing through the eyes of the pinto alone would squeeze the side plates together!! Not good

Yeah I came as a kit. That makes sense it's the wrong thimble and retreivaball. Pain in the arse when you live in the north east of scotland !
