HI all thinking of replacing current tipper truck with transit or similar type pickup with mounted crane for delivering logs to customer in vented bag and tipping out at customers instead of tipping from bags into current tipper truck then tipping again at customers ,trying to reduce handling and .save time. does anyone else use this system and has it saved you much time. your thoughts please thanks chris

Why don't you just put the bags in the back of the truck and throw the logs out at customers end? We do this out of a van, you can carry more because vehicle weighs less and it only takes 5 mins to empty a cube bag!

Cuts out another piece of equipment that can go wrong as well!

The opp want to cut down on manual handling not increase it

Plus it looks more professional offering tipped loads and bag delivery via crane

Hmm, not sure about 'looks more professional'.I'm happy being an amateur if that's the case!

I've never quite got my head around leaving bags with the customer, how can he move it? Plus you just end up buying more bags 'cos loads of them are out!

Big pile of bits on the newly laid slate drive or nice neat bag in the car port people don't want to stack logs if there in a bag they don't have to.

If you charge a returnable deposit on the bag they will come back to you to get as they don't want to loose the £7.50.

TBF most houses we deliver to we can't get access to get undercover, round here the old architecture is very different to a lot of areas.

I get how a deposit works but would rather not need to take it.

Different strokes for different folks:thumbup: be boring if we were all the same:biggrin:
