AFAIK the 628 is pivot steer and the 728 is non pivot 4 wheel steer, so they are different machines. Pivot steer is OK on level ground and doesn't have as much reach, also higher access into cab, an important point if you're on and off it a lot.

If you can get a manitou you won't go far wrong. I've used quite a few different machines working on large construction sites.

Manitou were by far the best.

I used a brand new one in 1999 and it was ace.

I've used Matbro, JCB, Bobcat telehandlers, an old Ford engined Teleshift. Merlo and Manitou

The Manitou was head and shoulders above the rest.
