those plastic inserts for high lift wedges

do you still need to put a ring or rings on the end,went to put one on and theres no chance of it fitting,dont want to taper the plastic down if I don't have to

Ive got ring's on mine and there still strait with very little mushrooming,,

 

A friend used his without and is mushroomed and now bent out of line making knocking in at first a little awkward,,

 

I sanded the end of mine on a belt sander to a tapertill it slided on, when on sander keep turning it

No you don't, the rings are for the wooden ones

These are 3-4 years old and i use 6 lbs hammer

Use a fencing maul rather than a sledge hammer and mushrooming on both plastic and wooden wedges will be greatly reduced:thumbup1:
