1st crane dismantle

Hi guys, I've got my first crane job this coming Thursday. Taking out a pretty big cedar from a cemetery. Really looking forward to the job. Just wondering if anyone has got some tips that I might find useful

Cedar is very heavy on the end of the branches. Make sure your limbs are well balanced. Keep your step cuts as tight as possible. On the big timber don't be scared to use wedges to keep the weight off the saw as you are cutting through.

Also as it's you first, cut a small bit and communicate with the crane driver to get a ideal of weight. And ask him what weights you can lift with the location of the crane.

Just like gardiners said, make sure you comunicate with your driver to work out the weights and know what he can safely deal with at each cut. Desire what signals etc you are going to use to communicate or ideally have some sort if walkie talkie. Other than that make sure your saw is razor and concentrate on good cuts and work positioning. Personally I like to try and cut straight through or use a crane cut over a step cut. Hope this is of some help.

Just to let you know the job went well today, my biggest piece was 3.5t. Had it down in 3 hrs.
