These carbs are prety reliable, check other things before fitting a new carb, dirty fuel filter in tank, split cracked fuel hose, impulse hose cracked or not connected, piston condition, clean and rebuild carb with new diaphrams, tank breather.

Pretty much my thoughts as well - and it sounds like it could be the tank vent. If it helps to open the fuel cap when it is acting up, it is the vent, if not it isn't.

well iv had it all apart, piston and barrel are mint, not done a lot, checked the impulse pipe etc,its all good, interesting thing that popped up though was when I took the cover at the bottom of the carb of the tank breather just kind of fell out,it goes back in although it would probably come loose where it plugs into the tank, reckon this could be my problem ??
