That's not entirely true, you may not have the crew to bosh a job as quick as the VAT reg company you priced against, you put a day on the job they may do it in half a day so they can be cheaper, of course this can work both ways. I have always been against going VAT reg but I now have no choice, looking at my overheads and what I can claim back I won't have to pass 20% onto my customers anyway.

 

Your only pleasing your customers not your business, everything you use to be 20%cheaper than me has got vat on it, I get it back you don't. Very few of my domestics moan as most seem to expect it.

Get a good accountant, I have one, he costs me £65 per month and I won't go into the money he has saved me in the last 14 years. My advice to anyone is to know your costs and go from there.

Don't get me wrong I'm not nocking non vat reg boys in any way, most of my competition are non vat, I went over and rather than panic, moan,wine etc just accepted it and moved on and if I'm honest has been a good move.
