Beech graft?

Saw this tree the other day, its quite a big Beech that was very healthy, looks like it could be a graft, didnt get any pics of the full tree, I'll have to try and get some next time I pass by.

You coulda fooled me. That is ugly. No, fugly; no wait...even frugly! A range of opinion and admittedly I can see only what I see in the image....But it is enough.

A Helliwell score would surely suffer.

Bundle 2, frugly I like it,;) well its amazing how many people just walk past it and dont even notice it, or even wonder why its grown like that, so you could be right its so frugly that folk dont even want to look at it lol. :)
