What I don't get is at the majority of farm sales down here the stuff goes for stupid money and most are buying to sell.

 

 

I had a farm sale in 1996, nearly twenty years ago, and one of the items was a Clarke parts washer

I think we paid about ninety something quid for it in 1993 and it went for £110 at the sale when a new one was still in the nineties!

A sunny day, good food and drink, good auctioneer and the "I'm not letting him have it" attitude all play a part

And fairly large single farm payments!!

No buyers premium just VAT on sales. I had a list with me of the new prices so I could compare. Glad for the guy prices were strong.

 

All the kit had been sprayed during the week by auctioneers. I'd have preferred to see it in farm condition.

I remember once seeing a used pair of Halfords jump leads selling at a farm auction for £25 plus vat, plus 18% premium. They were only £7.99 brand new off the shelf. As the old saying goes, "Remember your cheque book and leave your brains at home."
